Discussion thread for next season’s racing series.

    Lotus 49
    Open Setup
    Track Schedule Follows Official Series
    Race Length 45 min
1 or 2 Cautions Per Race, Admin’s Discretion
No Forced Pit Or Fuel Restriction

Question: For the caution, would you prefer it to be random as determined by an admin OR scheduled for an approximate time during the race? Scheduling it may indruduce an additional strategy dynamic.****DECIDED, ADMIN’S DISCRETION****

Random. Always 1 at least with the possibility of 2. It’s a long 40 minutes. People might need a couple minutes to drink a beer

Oh and I think we proposed a fixed setup too

I don’t think the cautions should be scheduled. If the race is going well and everyone is bunched up there’s no need for a caution. If there are many spins/wrecks a caution would be useful to clean up the mess and bunch the field up. I don’t see the value in scheduled cautions unless we are limiting the amount of fuel to be used.

The problem I see with this is everyone will want a caution as soon as they spin out. How many wrecks and spins will determine a caution plus the admins would like to race as well.

How about “gentlemens cautions”? Whoever’s leading at the time drops to pit lane speed and we all catch up. That way the admins don’t have to worry about triggering a caution and interrupting their fun.

Hopefully whatever admin is throwing the cautions they just have a button mapped so they don’t have to type. Gentlemans cautions are nice and all, but I hope we don’t expect that we do one every time someone spins. Unless I’m the one spinning, then I’ll want six or seven of them.

Too bad we can’t just turn on cautions for road races and just let the safety car come out when necessary. Works in oval races. Not sure why it can’t be done in road.

    OP updated.

There will always be at least 1 caution.

It will be my discretion how many and when.

See you boys tonight for some excitement.
