It is time to open discussion about next season.

No, we are not running 12 weeks of the Ring. LOL

I’m not sure if any content is going to be released or not.

    So, let’s talk about it.

Heck we could use the cautions to mix it back up and put the fast people behind again.

Back in GT5 days, reverse grid was easy. Allen, Mike and I were part of something very similar where the field got inverted after each heat. It was a lot of fun…that was until Boshooter parked in the worst possible place to watch the rest of the race….

Since field inversion is not easy in iRacing I don’t think we should go crazy on inverting… As long as we stick to short tracks I’m okay with a caution. In GT1 it felt like the cautions were too long. I want to race… not run pace laps while purple bears race past…LOL!

OK guys, time to make some timely decisions.

    We are running the Skip.

My thought on this would be– everyone does some testing and gets back with a track pick by next week. Short tracks that keep the racing tight. If we decide we want to do this we can talk about it some more. We could run some practice rooms during the week and do some promoting and recruiting. Hopefully pick up a couple members. Personally, I think if we had another 5-8 regulars it would make all the difference.

So, I know this is late and we don’t have much time, but lets get it!

    Lookin’ Good Jeremy,

I’ll throw some short track picks out there now FFS

Circuit Park Zandvort National or Club layouts

Oulton Park Circuit Historic or Fosters With Heslop

    Looking forward to this season!

Below is the current official series track lineup. I know the powers to be plan on adjusting. Are we going all short tracks? If so, check my lineup below in bold. Even tossed in an oval haha. Got Sloan’s tracks in there as well. These are just ideas. Adjust as you wish.

Those are some short tracks in that list. But should keep the racing close and exciting. If we go Charlotte Oval, that will be an insane race.

Week 1: Brands Hatch – Indy (Confirmed race)
Week 2: Laguna Seca (Replace? Lime Rock)
Week 3: Road Atlanta – Short
Week 4: Homestead Miami – Road Course A (Replace? Monza – Junior)
Week 5: SPA – (Replace? Barber short A)
Week 6: Nurburgring – Grand Prix (How about Nurburgring GP – Sprintstrecke)
Week 7: Twin Ring Motegi – Grand Prix (Replace? Circuit of the Americas – East)
    Week 8: Zandvoort – (Club?)
Week 9: Zolder – Grand Prix (Oran – South)
Week 10: Oulton Park – Intl w/no Chicanes (Replace? Oulton Park – Island Historic)
Week 11: Charlotte – Road Course (Replace? Lets get crazy with an oval?)
Week 12: Mount Panorama – (Replace? Sebring – Modified)

I personally like Twin Ring Motegi. We could run the short version, is it west?

I agree with removing Laguna Seca. Let’s take a car that might kill you and take it over the corkscrew….FFS.

I agree with removing Charlotte. That’s too much oval compared to the short infield.

I say we take allens track list as is. Decide on a short oval like Martinsville and run with it.
Seriously. Let’s mix this up and go crazy. I have tons of cars and tons of tracks. You never know, we may stumble onto something really fun. At the very worst you can laugh at me as I make a fool of myself.

Yes to a short Twin Ring Motegi. Layout to be dertermined.

Yes to a small oval. CRAZY!!

I think yes to a caution. These will be short tracks. You will not be pacing 5-7 minutes. It will give everyone a chance to refresh their car if needed from all the racing.

Thanks for compiling that list Allen. Overall its solid. Tonight and here if people can suggest their short track picks for some of those substitutions.

Also, Jeremy is on a new medication apparently and was asking for short oval suggestions?!

    Ok

Is fuel limited this season? Or can we put enough fuel in and not require a pit stop?

    No Russ.

Congratulations to Sloan for taking the first win of the season! Congrats Bryan and Jeremy for your podium finishes! It was pretty cool to see Wagner running in 1st place 3/4 of the way into the race.

This is a fun combo with the skip running these short tracks. Even though it can become extremely frustrating. Mike had his moments. Bryan had his. Randy had his. Larry had his. Jeremy had his. Jon had his. I know I had my moments. Missing anyone haha?

My race was pretty null. I started from the back and was just pacing, not looking to mix it up for the first few laps. On lap 3 or 4 I was running behind Sloan. I believe I was in 8th place at the time. Sloan ran wide going into turn 1. I decide to go below him to setup for turn 2. All was great minus the part where I completely lost my awareness of where I was on track. Missed my braking point! I got on the brakes hard turned in for turn 2 and ended up with a tad bit of understeer. I ended up touching wheels with Sloan. Thankfully Sloan was able to continue on with no damage. Me on the other hand was meatballed. So I had to pit.

The remainder of the first half of the race was uneventful for me. I was basically hot lapping just waiting for the caution to bring us back together so I could get some racing in! Yellow comes out, pace car hits the track and it took all I had to catch the damn thing within 3 laps. That pace car was hauling ass! Either way, we were able to regroup entering the final turn before the pace car dove into pitlane. The green flag is waving we are entering turn 1. Not sure what happen, but I see Jon and Bryan sideways in front of me. I lift, slow down, but have no where to go. 3 car pile up. Meatballed again….back to the pits. At this point I’m a bit ticked haha.

Back to hot lapping! Somehow running 5th without passing anyone on track. I notice Alex 9 seconds in front of me with 10 minutes to go. I start pushing to see if I can catch him. From my calculations that was running in my head, I should catch him right around the final lap. I end up catching Alex with 1.5 – 2 laps to go. Getting ready to take the white flag entering the final turn, Alex runs wide. So I stay low for the pass. I was really hoping Alex would keep it together until the end. Not sure if it was the pressure or if he just made a mistake. I was looking forward to an exciting finish with him!

Hopefully I got my bad race out of the way. I had high expectations this week for some exciting racing. Sadly I screwed myself at the beginning. Lesson learned! The Skip will meatball very easily. Either way, nice to see new names near the top battling it out for positions.

I was good until 3 laps from the end! Don’t know where my damage on the front wing came from but reduced lap times to where I could not catch Sloan and Jeremy was catching me … then the touch and I flipped, ended up on my side and had to tow to pits which put me laps down. A little confused on the start as I was 7th maybe in practice .. then it showed 3rd on the grid? Clean laps set grid maybe? I pretty much ran the same pace as I had in practice, just seemed to be able to run it pretty consistent during the race. Surprised at how quick the 40 minutes went by! Fun!

I think Jeremy plans on changing the practice into a full on Q session. That will correct that issued going forward, Larry.
