Introduce Yourself
on: Jul 12, 06:33 pm

Welcome to our league. We are a group of casual but competitive sim-racers. The group is friendly and social so why not start by introducing yourselves?

I am Alex. I run this website and started the iRacing side of our league. Been racing with LZRacing since the start, 2010!

Availability: Roughly 6-12pm (PST) although my time is very limited these days.

About me: Married for the first time in 2008. At 44 yo it took a long time to find the right one! (it was worth the wait). Stupidly over-worked, disturbingly under-paid and in love with my job at a small non-profit that provides training for people with disabilities. In a former life I was a mechanical engineer.

Hobbies: Avid traveler (mainly to India over the past 6 years)

Favorite car: Chaparral 2d (GT5). Spec Racer Ford & Radical.

Race equipment: T500 wheel, Bodin load cell mod, Sam Maxwell Momo rim, Obutto racing cockpit and 3-screens.. A home made stereo/speaker system based on Manger's bending wave transducers.

Other Games: A little Path of Exile these days. And once upon a time I was deeply immersed in Ultima Online in the dread lords days. heh heh

Name: Bryan

Availability: Mondays and Wednesdays between 5:30 and 8 Pacific time

About me: Dedicated single fater of 3 with a pretty decent age range between them. I have a son thats almost 19, a daughter recently turned 16 and a son that will be 8 very soon. My older two children live with me and go visit their mother every other weekend. Well, at least they do when they can tolerate the drive. For the past 12 years I've been driving just over 500 miles every other weekend so that they could go see her. It's been a chore but I couldn't even imagine it any other way. I like being home for them, cooking dinner and hanging out with them. They are the coolest people I know. My youngest is from a second marriage and his mother and I share his visitation.

I work for an Aerospace company that makes interiors for passenger aircraft, mainly Boeing and Airbus, where I manage quite a number of departments.

I only recently joined LZ racing. Previously I raced for years exclusively with the WheelRacers club but when we found our numbers dwindeling as our taste for PC sim racing developed we have branched out into other clubs. I'm glad to be here as everyone here seems to have a similar mindset: Main objective is to have fun and laugh a bit with good people, second objective is to do that while racing cleanly.

Hobbie:s Autocrossing, Mountain Biking, Driving

Favorite Car: Avid Porsche fan I would have to say my favorite is the Carerra GT. Also I'm in love with my Ford Focus ST

Race Equipment: Fanatec CSR Elite, Clubsport V1 Pedals (inverted), Obutto cockpit on castor wheels, butt-kicker, DSD button box and cheap-ass USB microphone headset. I race in the living room so my "monitor" is a 65" Panasonic Plasma tv, Denon receiver and JBL speakers.

Other Games: I actually enjoy all sorts of other games on PC and consoles. I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 so I play Halo (loved Halo 4), a little Cal of Duty, God of War, dead space, Forza, you name it.

You are seemingly cool, Bryan. Nice choice in race equipment, just need 2 more plasma TVs! Glad to have you around as it has been fun racing with you.

Availability: Over the last few years I have devoted Monday and Wednesday evenings to my virtual racing when real life does not happen to get in the way

About me:
I am 50 years old (Larry has given me great inspiration that maybe when I am 70 I will be as fast as he is lol) Happily married to a lovely lady for 22 years (she may read this). We have 2 kids, 16 & 17 boy and a girl, my daughter is on the honor roll, my son isn't lol he hopes to join the military, both kids are in Cadets... I lived all of my life in Ottawa, Ontario and at this point will not likely end up anywhere else. Which is fine, great place to live. It gets freakin cold in the winter, which coincidentally is my peak sim-racing season. I was originally trained as a carpenter and for the last 10 years I have managed a busy residential renovation company.

Hobbies: Trout Fishing, ATVing (Polaris 550) Time at my camp (cottage), it is off the grid and very remote, it is a great place to unwind and tear it up a bit. Home Theater, I am a tech geek at heart. I enjoy building things.

Favorite cars: iRacing = Ford GT, Classic car = 68 Camaro New Car = Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Race equipment: Fanatec Turbo S wheel, Fanatec Clubsport pedals V1, Triple 24" screens, I built a custom steel rig and monitor stand, DSD Pro sequential shifter, DSD Black Max ll button box, sim vibe setup with 2 aura bass shakers and dayton amp, i5 760 PC 16 GB ram, HD5870 GPU

Other Games: Not many when I joined iRacing in 2010, I pretty much abandoned the XBOX, I played around with other PC driving titles but the only thing I found that even compares to iRacing is rFactor2 which IMHO still has issues that need to be sorted out... (hopefully soon).

Re: Introduce Yourself
on: Jul 20, 05:04 pm

Availability: I do my best to practice one night a week for an hour or so if possible and then I attend the Wednesday official races. Summer is very hard for me to get in much time as I have a lot of stuff going on.

About me: I am currently 41 and live in Cambridge Ontario. Been married since April 1 2000 but have been together for over 23 years. We have 2 children 22 and 12. The 22 year old (girl) just finished her engineering degree at the University of British Columbia and the 12 year old is going into grade at (December baby) and is enrolled in french immersion. Most of his classes are in French which is a challenge for him because I speak very little french and my wife speaks newfaniese (only Canadians will get that reference). I have been working in the Power Generation business for most of my career managing outage staff (engineers/technicians/geeks) blah blah blah. The company i work for has been in Cambridge for over 180 years.

Hobbies: Summer time is definitely golfing. I am a 12 handicap right now and won my home clubs C flight championship last year. Last weekend I played 81 holes!! The winter time is skiing for sure, the whole family skis and we make at least one trip a year to Tremblant and also try to get out west. I try and stay as active as possible, running 3 to 4 days week and some core type workouts to combat my age. I also like mountain biking but not as much as I used to as it hurts a lot more when I crash. My wife doesn't like me doing to much crazy stuff as I have a knack for ending up with a concussion or in the hospital.

Favorite cars: Iracing is probably almost any of the road cars. I prefer the slower cars as they are more my pace and I enjoy the challenge of carrying speed.

Race equipment: Logitech G27, playseat evo, triple 27" samsungs. Running an I5 3750K at 4.2Ghz and an HD7970.

Other Games: The PS3 and GT5 was how I met up with Alex and Jeremy about 2 or more years ago. dont touch it anymore. Some COD with my son from time to time. And did I mention I play some golf as well.

Re: Introduce Yourself
on: Jul 23, 05:04 pm

Availability: Most evenings except Mondays. I am dedicated to Wednesday and Sunday nights long term.

About me: Married for almost 8 years, but sadly this has come to an end. 🙁 Living the single life once again. No kids, unless you count furry quadrupeds.

I've been working for a social services agency for just over 10 years now, one that specializes in helping those with intellectual disabilities live independently in the community. I joined up with the company when it had just started and have watched it grow quickly over the past decade. We started with 3 staff, now we employ over 30! I really enjoy my work helping manage daily operations of the company and take pride in assisting people with disabilities. I've never had a more rewarding job.

I have always liked driving fast and have been very happy to come across iracing two years ago. It's been immensely enjoyable to finally be involved with some seriously fun racing! I'm hoping to expand into REAL racing soon.

Hobbies: Biking, Yoga, Reading, Camping, Driving.

Favorite Car: Sim - McLaren MP4. Life - BMW M5 and especially my VW Golf.

Race Equipment: Logitech Driving Force GT wheel and pedals, 27" HP LED Monitor with two more waiting to be set up for triple screen fun. Huge Cooler Master CPU tower with AMD Quad Core and 8GB RAM waiting on a video card upgrade!! Maybe go with ASUS GeForce GTX 660. Logitech 2.1 sound system makes the cars sound real nice.

Other Games: sometimes wii golf, but nothing comes close to sim racing at the moment for shear enjoyment so that's my focus

Plus, I'm a ginger. Shhhhh

If you don't go for it at every corner of every lap, what's the point?!

Sorry to hear about the split up Coopin. Life goes on though, trust me. I've been there, done that. Hopefully sim racing provides another way to get your mind off of things.
